Monitoring Radar Closely

Good afternoon everyone,

It may have calmed down for now, but could thunderstorms fire back up? It was only in the 60s at noon. The big question now is will the atmosphere recover, warm up? The days are longest right now, so there is time.

Take a look at this radar:

That thin line near Wichita, KS was caused by the rain-cooled air from the large complex of thunderstorms that tracked across Kansas. This is likely going to become the new warm front and it may be the focusing mechanism for new thunderstomr development. We are monitoring this closely. If thunderstorms form near this line they would move east or maybe even northeast in response to a storm system moving across the plains aloft.  There is still a slight risk of severe weather in our area so we must pay close attention to any new development.

Have a great afternoon. We will update you if we have time later today, or watch 41 Action News for details.
