Good morning bloggers,
- Today’s Forecast: Sunny, hot, and quite breezy. South southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with some higher gusts. High: 89°
It will be heating up to near 90 degrees the next two days ahead of a cold front. This cold front will be approaching from the northwest Thursday night and there will be a good chance of thunderstorms as this front moves across.
This past season, in almost every situation like this set-up, and we have had many, the showers and thunderstorms have been mostly behind the front. It is one of the reasons why severe weather season was so quiet in Kansas City. This front seems to be setting up the same way, but there will likely be some good organization to the rain just behind the cold front as the energy aloft lags west of the front Thursday night. Thunderstorms will form Thursday evening north and west of Kansas City and then we will track them into the area. The GFS model, as you can see above, is predicting 1 to 2 inches of rain. We will work on our own rainfall forecast for our weathercasts tonight.
The Chiefs play in Philadelphia Thursday night and we got the rights to show the game locally on 41 Action News. We will have a 1 hour pre-game show from 6 to 7 PM, and then a 1 hour post-game show following the game. Frank Boal and Jack Harry are in Philadelphia and will have some interesting stories with Andy Reid going back to Philly!
Have a great day and thank you for spending a few minutes of your day reading the Action Weather Blog! My mom may get out of the hospital and head on into a rehab facility today. This is a big day as she has been in the hospital for 37 days. I am planning a trip to go see her sometime in October. Thank you for all of your kind words and support as she had these two major surgeries and appears to have gotten past the storm, no pun intended!
