Cool morning, and even cooler Easter morning

Hey Bloggers!

Did it feel chilly this morning to you?  Our lows by 7 am shown below:

That makes this morning the coldest since March 10 – our last freeze.  I think it will be even colder on Easter morning…

But let’s talk about the rain on Saturday first.  As a surface cold front tracks into western Kansas tonight, a cluster of t-storms will develop overnight.  The chance for severe weather with these storms is low as they fire 300 miles or more west of KC.  If anything’s going on by 10pm, Brett Anthony would be able to show it on the news.

By morning, the t-storms approach KC in a weakening state.  Hence, our chance for severe weather Saturday morning is very, very low.  These t-storms advance ahead of the surface cold front, likely resulting in a quick round of rain in the morning and a dry afternoon.

While this storm system may produce heavy rain west of KC.  I think the most likely scenario for KC is low rainfall amounts locally – if it should rain…trace to a few tenths.  Brett will update the forecast later today and have info if that should change.

Behind the cold front, cooler air for Easter morning.  A surface high follows the front.  Light wind, clear skies and dry air in place…it gets chilly by Easter morning.

Right now I have a low temperature at KC of 39° for Easter morning.   But if future forecasts should look cooler we’d have to prepare to talk about the potential for any frost…and what locations could see it.  We’ll be updating the forecast all weekend long, so stay tuned.  One thing’s certain…Easter afternoon will be great!

Did you get a chance to see the St. Jude dream home preview?
41ActionNews St. Jude page
It’s our local fundraiser which raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  This international center in Memphis helps some of our local Kansas City kids diagnosed with cancer.  St. Jude’s goal is to help all kids, regardless of race, religion or ability to pay….and they do not charge the patients’ families a bill – so the family can focus on healing, not paying huge medical bills.

Our fundraiser, called the St. Jude Dream Giveaway, is a raffle for a 600,000$ home.  Since the entire home was built by fundraising efforts, we can maximize the amount of donations that go to St. Jude.  Tickets are 100$.  I can’t buy and ticket, but you can!  Go for it!

Have a great weekend!  Good luck!
