Friday Forecast Thoughts & The Weekend Weather

Good late Thursday night of Friday morning bloggers,

The weather pattern is going to block up and this is something that Weather2020 predicted would happen around the 10th of May three weeks ago. It is happening and it will likely mean that we will have some spectacular spring weather for an extended period with a chance to dry out. I just hope it doesn’t dry out too much. The chances of rain are fairly low for the next few days to two weeks. Something may sneak in here, but most of these days look dry.

Kansas City Weather Time-Line:

  • Friday: Sunny and gorgeous with a few afternoon clouds. High:  72°
  • Saturday:  Sunny and fantastic with light winds. High:  77°
  • Sunday:  Mostly sunny and great with a few afternoon clouds. High:  74°
  • The Next Storm:  The next storm is likely around Wednesday into Thursday. This is the part of the cycling pattern that produced the ice storm in the plains that was more like the “non-ice” ice storm in KC.  This is the one good chance of rain in the next two weeks

The weather pattern is cycling as described by the LRC.  Here is that big puzzle:

There are influences from the north and influences from the south. Something much bigger is going on and this is what the LRC describes. This Omega Block that is forming is actually directly related to what caused our almost snowless winter (4.9″ fell in KC all winter long).

The pattern will mostly be dominated by a developing Omega Block. One storm will sneak through however later next week. We are moving into the climatologically wettest time of the year in mid-May, and it is very hard to stay dry.

We will get a few dry days and it is timed for the weekend. So, let’s enjoy this big break of nice weather. We will see how this sets up and bring you Kansas City’s most accurate forecast on 41 Action News. Have a great weekend.
