Easter Sunday Thoughts

Happy Easter Sunday bloggers,

It will be a beautiful day with some increasing clouds. The chance of rain with a few thunderstorms will be increasing tonight into Monday. Hopefully it will come together as we need the rain. It should be great for a Royals sixth win in a row out at the K today.  Here is one rainfall forecast that just came out this morning. This is the NAM total rainfall forecast by Monday evening:

Have a great day!

Finally a Bulls eye near KC!!! Yahooooooo!!!!

Gary, NAM you showed above is fairly bullish, but here’s the latest GFS’s take, which is quite different: “http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov/NCOMAGWEB/appcontroller/Image.php?fhr=048&image=data%2Fgfs%2F12%2Fgfs_namer_048_precip_ptot.gif&model=gfs&area=namer&param=precip_ptot&group=Model+Guidance&preselected_formatted_cycle_date=20140420+12+UTC&imageSize=M&ps=model”

If we get no rain today KCI will be at 64% of “normal” or average rainfall YTD. Need to get some rain going, as we are approaching the wettest time of the year and rainfall deficits grow quickly.

Must be tough in places where it doesn’t rain every 2-3 days like it does around here…

It hasn’t rained here every 2-3 days in the last 10,000 years. Or are you in the rainforest for the holiday?

  • yourmom

Easter bunny hopped on down the trail with no problem this weekend, so that was nice.

I am wondering when we are going to start seeing more severe weather. Is it because our dew points have not made it high enough yet? I know its only April, but it seems by now we would see a little more activity.

If you aren’t aware that it rains every 2-3 days around here, perhaps you should look at the forecast. It isn’t a debate. It is pretty simple to check it out really.

      Where is “around here” ??
Maybe where you are, it has rained every 2-3 days, so count yourself lucky.
What isn’t a debate is that the KC metro encompasses a huge area…and the viewing area of KSHB is even larger. So while you may be enjoying rain every 2-3 days, certainly not everyone has been.
Sorry but I found your comment a bit condescending, telling folks to “check it out” when you have no idea where they live.

Why even have a weather forecast if you think we aren’t talking about the kc area? Of course we are talking about kc metro. I live in op and we have had rain. I know people in other parts of the region who have had rain also. Some people are a bit overly sensitive if you think it is harsh to talk about something which is empirically obvious. If anyone is condescending it is someone who would imply that I live in the rainforest for saying that we have rain in the forecast every 2-3 days, but whatever.

      Don’t pay attention to peter

Of course I knew you were talking about the KC metro…so was I.
But in another part of JoCo it has not rained every 2-3 days. We have huge cracks in the ground.
It was your comment, implying that everyone has enjoyed rain every 2-3 days, that I found condescending.

      Nuff said.

Yourmom, you must be delirious from the lack of consistant rain and seeing mirages. We haven’t had anything close to rain every two or three days in a long time. You’ve totally lost it if you think that.

I’m anxious for the rain. I put down my crabgrass preventer and would like to have that watered in without doing it myself. A good rain and some warm temps will make mushroom hunting more fun too!

  • yourmom

I wish I could live in this area which never seems to get so much rain. Must be nice to not have to worry about getting caught in a storm every week. I would be thrilled. I’m not a farmer, so I don’t see a need to be hyper concerned about rain. I guess I will sign off. Lord knows I don’t want to offend anyone else…

Anything that comes from the Northwest will be disappointing, it’s just that simple so i would recommend keeping your auto sprinklers on…oh and make sure to water the street real well so it screws up my nicely cleaned truck
