A Friday Weather Synopsis

It’s Friday bloggers,

I will be live at Kansas City Royals Fanfest today at 4, 5, 6, and 6:30 during our newscasts.  I hope to see everyone there. Come up and say hello. We can talk about weather and sports.  Then, I am there again manning our booth with Sunny the Weather Dog on Saturday from 11 AM to 1PM.

The weather pattern is quite frustrating to look at the models from run to run. Last nights models had KC on the edge of around four different chances of snow. Again, KC was on the edge with basically zero on the models while accumulating snows went all around our area to the north, east, and south.  It will be something to monitor. The first one to monitor is this on Sunday night:

A spinning disturbance is forecast to track just northeast of KC, as this is valid 6 PM Sunday.  And, then we will concentrate on the cold Arctic air mass:

This is one very large Arctic air mass that will be lurking just north of the central plains next week.  Look at what else we can monitor:

The Arctic Oscillation is forecast to dip negative during the next ten days.  For something different to happen, for KC to potentially actually see our first 3″ snowstorm in four full years, a deep dip into negative territory of this index, and the NAO as well, would imply blocking.  But, these dips haven’t gone below -3, and this is likely to to be the case again.  Let’s discuss this and other features as we move through the next few days.

Have a great day. Temperatures will be zooming up again today with strong south winds. Let’s continue our great discussion over on the Weather2020 blog. Thank you for sharing in this weather experience.
